50km Mountain Bike Race
This unique tough race will take you from one end of the Christchurch’s Port Hills to the other via the Crater Rim – 50km of mountain biking that will test your physical and mental skills. In front of you will be a 30km of primo technical single track combined with 20km of 4WD farm tracks/road. The course climbs and descends many times – iconic white knuckle descents such as “The Flying Nun”, “The Farm Track” and “Greenwood Park” plus the exhilarating twister near the finish – “The Anaconda”.
Amongst the climbs there are two oxygen sucking ones that will take you from sea level up to the Crater Rim. If you have time, the views from the Crater Rim are world class! On one side – Christchurch City across to Pegasus Bight – and on the other side – Lyttelton Harbour – and to the West – the mighty Southern Alps.
